It is a container sort of a pan. It is reusable container which is used to utilize and protect loose direct items. It is mostly used in process handling. A production department of a company receives work orders from the planning system weekly. Kitted material is received in tote pans that are grouped by the work order number. The tote pans are bar coded to provide tracking information of the tote pan or work order and are moved by an automated conveying system. All work in process is stored in a storage or retrieval system to be dispatched to an appropriate work station. The tote pans which are returned to the company provide an alternative to cartons for distribution.
