Carton is the name of certain types of containers typically made from paperboard which is also sometimes known as "cardboard". The shape may vary from variety of products for its cartons. Many types of cartons are used in packaging. Sometimes a carton is also called a box. It is a disposable container used to unitize and protect loose discrete items. Mostly it is used for distribution of goods. The dimensions are always specified as sequence, length, width and depth; where length is the larger, and width is the smaller, of the two dimension of the open face of the carton, and depth is the distance perpendicular to the length and width. Large quantities of finished carton blanks or knocked-down or emptied cartons can be stored on pallets until needed.
