AGV is Automatic guided vehicle. It does not require any operator. It is good for labour cost or environmentally sensitive conditions example clean room. It is also termed as automated guided vehicle. AGV's are good for low-to-medium volume medium-to-long distance random material flow operations, example transport between work cells in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) environment. It can tow objects behind them in small trailers which they can autonomously hook up to. These trailers can be used to move raw materials. Rather than using humans to perform repetitive tasks a machine is used to perform that task 24 hours a day. Tow AGV is used to pull a train of trailers carrying loads of heavy industry material. It is an automated version of tractor trailer. Usually trailers are loaded manually.
