It is a type of sortation conveyor. This pop-up device is used within this sortation conveyor. This device moves or lifts the product from the floor level of the sortation conveyor. There can be many rows in of pop-up device in the sortation conveyor. One or more rows of powered rollers or wheels or chains that pop up above surface of conveyor to lift product and guide it off conveyor at an angle; wheels are lowered when products not required to be diverted. This device is only capable of sorting flat-bottomed items or products. Pop-up rollers are generally faster than pop-up wheels.

The pop up wheel divert device consists of one wheel or two strings of wheels that are located on the sortation conveyor travel path at the same elevation as the sortation conveyor travel path live rollers. This pop-up wheel elevation, wheel angle and wheel movement grabs the exterior carton bottom surface and directs the carton from the sortation conveyor travel path onto the shipping lane .
