It is a part of sortation conveyor. As in sortation conveyor the product moves to different destinations; similarly here in diverter the product after sortation reaches to its particular category. This diverter is mostly used for stationery or movable arms that deflect, push, or pull a product to desired destination. Since they do not come in contact with the conveyor, they can be used with almost any flat surface conveyor. This sortation diverter conveyor is usually hydraulically or pneumatically operated, but also can be motor driven. It is simple and incurs very low cost as compared to other conveyors. The belt-driven sortation conveyor concept provides a reliable method of tracking packages to the divert stations. The diverter may be controlled by photo cells, a code reader, a PLC controller, or other established control methods.
